HDOT NEWS RELEASE: KAUAI LANE CLOSURES FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 24 - 30, 2015

PLEASE NOTE: Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

KAUMUALII HIGHWAY

1) KEKAHA
Alternating lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in both directions between Akialoa Road and Waimea Canyon Drive on Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for resurfacing work. Traffic will be contraflowed through the remaining open lane. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

2) OMAO TO LAWAI
Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in both directions between Maluhia Road and Koloa Road on Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for road resurfacing. Traffic will be contraflowed through the remaining open lane. Motorists are advised to expect delays and drive with caution through the project zone.

KUHIO HIGHWAY

1) WAINIHA
Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between Kumu Road and Anahulu Road on Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for tree trimming.

2) WAINIHA
Alternating single lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between Haena State Park and Haena Place on Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for tree trimming.

NAWILIWILI ROAD

1) LIHUE (WEEKEND WORK)
24/7 single lane closure on Nawiliwili Road in both directions between Kaumualii Highway and Kanani Street on Friday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 30, for highway reconstruction work. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

2) LIHUE (WEEKEND WORK)
Alternating lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) in both directions between Kukui Grove Street and Pikake Street on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for road improvement work. Traffic will be contraflowed through the remaining open lane. The Haleko Road entrance to Kukui Grove Shopping Center will not be available during this time. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

HALEKO ROAD

1) LIHUE (WEEKEND WORK)
All lanes closed in both directions on Haleko Road between Nawiliwili Road and Kukui Grove Street on Friday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 30, twenty-four hours a day, for highway reconstruction work. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

Access to Kukui Grove Shopping Center will be available from Kukui Grove Street and Haleko Road on the west side of Nawiliwili Road.

DLNR EXTENDS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR DRAFT MASTER PLAN, EIS FOR HA‘ENA STATE PARK

The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, will continue to accept public comments on the Master Plan and EIS for Ha‘ena State Park through October 8, 2015.

HDOT NEWS RELEASE: PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR REPLACEMENT OF WAINIHA TEMPORARY BRIDGES

LIHUE - The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA-CFLHD) will be holding a public meeting to discuss a project to replace three temporary bridges located on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in Wainiha. Work is currently in the environmental compliance and preliminary engineering phase. This meeting is being held to support the National Environmental Policy Act and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act as well as applicable Hawaii Revised Statutes. The meeting is scheduled at the following location and time.

Information will be shared and input will be collected on the proposed project design and traffic management strategies necessary to support construction activities. FHWA and HDOT representatives will be available to answer questions on the project.
