RELATING TO THE CONSERVATION OF ANIMALS. Prohibits ivory and rhinoceros horn sales and trade within the State, to be enforced by the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Establishes penalties. (HB837 HD1)

RELATING TO REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND SALESPERSONS. Allows the Real Estate Commission to take disciplinary action if a real estate broker or salesperson for a seller of real estate acts in a manner that prohibits a prospective buyer from being able to retain a real estate broker or salesperson. RELATING TO MOVIE THEATERS. Requires motion picture theaters that have two or more facilities in the State to provide open movie captioning and descriptive narration for at least two showings per week of a motion picture. (HD1)

RELATING TO STATUTORY REVISION: AMENDING OR REPEALING VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF THE HAWAII REVISED STATUTES AND THE SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII FOR THE PURPOSES OF CORRECTING ERRORS AND REFERENCES, CLARIFYING LANGUAGE, AND DELETING OBSOLETE OR UNNECESSARY PROVISIONS. Amending or repealing various provisions of the Hawaii Revised Statutes and the Session Laws of Hawaii for the purposes of correcting errors and references, clarifying language, and deleting obsolete or unnecessary provisions.

RELATING TO BULLYING. Requires certain state and county agencies and grantees to adopt bullying prevention policies. Establishes a task force to assist the Governor with bullying prevention policies in the State. Appropriates funds. (HB819 HD1)

RELATING TO RECORDS OF FORENSIC EXAMINATIONS. Creates consistency between statutes pertaining to Unfit to Proceed and Acquit and Commit regarding the Hawaii State Hospital receiving copies of court examinations upon commitment to the hospital.

RELATING TO SERVICE CONTRACTS. Applies the law on service contracts to include extended warranties. Requires providers to disclose to contract holders submitting a claim for the first time under an extended warranty that if the service is charged to the extended warranty the contract holder will no longer be entitled to a full refund. RELATING TO FIREARMS. Makes it a petty misdemeanor for a person to recklessly possess a loaded firearm while the person is intoxicated.

RELATING TO PARTITION OF HEIRS PROPERTY. Adopts Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act. Establishes procedures and remedies for use in actions for partition of real property involving heirs property (real property held in tenancy in common that meets certain requirements). (HB152 HD1)

RELATING TO DENTISTRY. Allows the board of dental examiners to summarily suspend a license upon a specific determination that the failure to take such action may result in an immediate and unreasonable threat to personal safety or of fraud that jeopardizes or endangers the health or safety of patients. RELATING TO SEXUAL ASSAULT. Mandates instead of permits a family court to terminate the parental rights to any child of a natural parent if the natural parent is convicted of rape or sexual assault and that rape or sexual assault resulted in the conception of the child.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony. Those wishing to provide oral testimony will be limited to two minutes.
