The following measure(s) were previously heard on January 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.:
RELATING TO THE CHIEF ELECTION OFFICER. Changes the term of the chief election officer to 2 years. Requires the elections commission to conduct a performance evaluation of the chief election officer within 2 months of certifying election results, and hold a public hearing relating to the performance evaluation.

RELATED TO ABSENTEE VOTING. Allows the county clerk to electronically transmit absentee ballots if mailed absentee ballots are not received by the voter within five days of an election.

RELATING TO PROTECTIVE ORDERS. Establishes the Hawaii hope card program within the Department of the Attorney General to issue hope cards upon request to those holding a long term protective order, with specified relevant information about the protective orders and all covered parties. Establishes special fund. Appropriates funds.

RELATING TO CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE. Requires the Comptroller to annually adjust the threshold amount for which settlements for claims against the State must be approved by the legislature for inflation.

RELATING TO ELECTIONS. Amends campaign finance and the definition for coordinated activity.

RELATING TO NUISANCE ABATEMENT. Adds a building, premise, and place in which a gambling offense is committed as a nuisance that is subject to abatement.

RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY. Amends the number of judges in the fifth circuit from two to three.

RELATING TO SERVICE BY PUBLICATION. Clarifies the requirements for service by publication.

RELATING TO GOVERNMENT RECORDS. Requires agencies to exercise reasonable care in the maintenance of all government records under its control that are required to be made available for public inspection.

RELATING TO INCOME TAX CREDITS FOR VOTING IN ELECTIONS. Establishes an income tax credit for voting in elections.

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. Makes an emergency appropriation to the Department of the Attorney General for retention of expert witnesses and specialized legal counsel in major litigation against the State of Hawaii.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
