RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION. Authorize groups of health care providers to organize as coordinated care organizations for the provision of medical care, services, and supplies under Hawaii's workers' compensation law. Effective 1/1/2016.

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION. Requires that a physician selected and paid for by an employer to conduct a medical examination for workers' compensation purposes shall be actively treating at least ten patients in a one-month period; be actively treating at least 50 per cent of the physician's total patient load in a one-month period; and possess medical malpractice insurance. Defines "actively treating".

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION. Provides that a independent medical examination and permanent impairment rating examination shall be conducted by a qualified physician selected by the mutual agreement of the parties. Provides a process for appointment in the event that there is no mutual agreement.

RELATING TO HEALTH. Establishes the Hawaii maternal mortality review panel within the department of health to conduct a comprehensive review of maternal deaths that have occurred in the State.

RELATING TO NURSES. Beginning with the July 1, 2017, licensing biennium, requires licensed registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to submit evidence of completed continuing competency requirements prior to the renewal of the license.

RELATING TO STATE CERTIFICATION OF HEALTH CARE INTERPRETERS. Establishes a health care interpreter qualification or certification system within the department of health. Establishes the Hawaii board of health care interpreters and authorizes the board to qualify or certify a person as a health care interpreter. Makes an appropriation.
