The purpose of this informational briefing is to discuss trade and biosecurity in the Pacific, specifically the potential impacts of the TransPacific Partnership, the proposed rule on the importation of Taiwan orchids, the effectiveness of the departments of agriculture and transportation biosecurity systems in addressing invasive species coming through the airports and seaports pathway, and to consider what agency should administer the Plant Quarantine Branch and its biosecurity program.
