A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to government transparency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that transparency is important in a democracy.
SECTION 2. Chapter 92, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§92- Government transparency. All items to be voted on in public meetings shall be posted electronically to a government website at least seventy-two hours prior to the vote. Confidential information may be redacted."
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.
