Biography
Senator Dwight Takamine currently serves as chair of the committee on Labor and vice-chair of the committee on Judiciary and Government Operations. He also sits as a member on the committees on Higher Education, Senate Ad Hoc, and Water, Land, Agriculture, and Hawaiian Affairs.

Senator Takamine earned a B.A. in Psychology while participating in the Ethnic Studies program at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. He subsequently received his J.D. from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 1978. Dwight is married to Carol and they have a blended family with three sons who are all currently attending college. Galen is at the University of Hawai`i West Oahu, Aaron is at New York University and Trevor is at the University of Hawai`i Manoa. Carol and Dwight reside in Laupahoehoe.
