Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland currently serves as Majority Whip and chairs the Human Services committee. She also sits as a member on the Agriculture, Education, Health, and Ways and Means committees.

Senator Chun Oakland has served in the State Legislature for 22 years. She currently represents Hawaii's 13th Senatorial District, which includes Alewa Heights, Liliha, Nu‘uanu, Pacific Heights, Palama, Pauoa, Pu‘unui, Kalihi Business District, Kalihi Kai, Sand Island, Ke‘ehi Small Boat Harbor, Mokauea, Mokuoeo, and Kahaka‘aulani Islands. She has served in the Hawaii State Senate since 1996 and as a State Representative from 1990 to 1996.

Married on June 11, 1994 to Michael Sands Oakland, Senator Chun Oakland and her husband have three children: Mailene Oakland Tialavea, Christopher Oakland and Lauren Oakland. Senator Chun Oakland has two grandchildren, Mysha and Shayden Tialavea.
