Representative Gregg Takayama serves the Pearl City, Waimalu, and Pacific Palisades communities, where he has lived for several decades with his wife Linda Takayama and their three daughters.
Rep. Takayama is a proud graduate of UH Manoa. He is an award-winning journalist and recipient of the 1st Prize for Spot News Reporting from the Society for Professional Journalists - Hawaii Chapter and the 1st Prize for News Videography, SPJ-Hawaii Chapter.
Rep. Takayama has served as the press secretary for U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye and as communications director for Lt. Governor Ben Cayetano. Most recently, he served as spokesman for UH Manoa for six years (2006-12).
Elected in 2012, Rep. Takayama strongly believes that "as one who has covered and worked in State and federal government for several decades, I have the experience and knowledge to be an effective advocate for Pearl City in the Legislature."
Top priorities for this freshman legislator include improving senior citizens' health care services; early education; and public safety.
Rep. Takayama has an open door policy and welcomes constituent input from his community.
