Representative Mina Morita was first elected to the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 1996. Currently, she serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection and is a member of the Water, Land Use & Ocean Resources, Housing, Judiciary and Consumer Protection Committees.
As a legislative leader for environmental and energy issues, she has worked on important laws such as the "bottle bill" and many laws regarding Hawaii's energy policy and the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative. An advocate for the use of renewable energy, Representative Morita strongly believes that renewable energy is a pathway to peace, economic stability and social justice.
But most importantly, Representative Morita and her husband, Lance Laney are the parents of two daughters, and have three granddaughters. Her sole purpose as a politician is to make Hawaii and the world a safe and peaceful place for our keiki.
