Representative Lee has a long history of service to the Mililani community. At the State Capitol, Marilyn's background as a registered nurse makes her well prepared to handle the issues of health care, including long term care. She is known for her work on issues important to women and families.
As an advocate for Mililani, Representative Lee knows that traffic congestion and time spent commuting are major irritants to residents. Marilyn believes that more accessible public transportation, the creation of jobs in close proximity of residential areas, and an emphasis on walking and biking where possible would help ease congestion. In addition, Marilyn supports an additional exit from the mauka side to the H-2 freeway. This exit has received planning monies.
Representative Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in upstate New York. She served six years in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant (O-3). She was a 1999 Fellow of the Flemming Leadership Institute, and a 2003 participant in the Eleanor Roosevelt Fellow China program. Marilyn and her husband, Sam, are the parents of four adult children: Andrew, John, Mary and Thomas, all of whom attended Mililani public schools. Marilyn and Sam are also proud grandparents.
