Representative Cindy Evans is a veteran legislator representing the over 25,000 residents of North Kona and South Kohala on the Big Island since 2002. The growing West Hawai'i district includes the Pohakuloa Training Area, Kawaihae Harbor, the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawai'i, Kona International Airport, and the famed resorts of the Kohala Coast. She is a trustee for the Historic Hawaii Foundation; and an active member of many community organizations, and has served as Past-President of the Waikoloa Village Outdoor Circle.

During the 2009-2010 legislative sessions, Representative Evans served as Majority Floor Leader. She has previously served as Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs; and Vice-Chair of the Committees on Energy and Environmental Protection, as well as Education.

Representative Evans was raised in Urbana, Illinois and graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She is married to Ricky Evans and they have lived on the Big Island since 1999. Her favorite pastimes include traveling, gardening, golf and playing with her cat, Jaya.
