During the past ten years in the House, Representative Blake Oshiro used his commitment and analytical skills to bring about significant changes and reforms. In addition, he has been able to secure many appropriations for community projects and priorities.
Representative Oshiro believes that aging and outdated infrastructure is a major problem for his community - be it roads, school buildings or library facilities. At times, newer development may dominate community attention. However, he believes that it is his responsibility to ensure that the residents of Aiea, Halawa Valley, Halawa Heights, Aiea Heights and Red Hill receive their proper share of government attention and resources.
During the 2009-2010 Legislative Session, Representative Oshiro served as the House Majority Leader. He previously served as the House Majority Floor Leader, and presided over the House during the Second Special Session of 2007 to address legislation relating to the Hawaii Superferry.
Representative Oshiro was first elected to the House in 2000. He attended public school in the Pearl City area, and graduated from Pearl City High School, the University of Southern California, and the William S. Richardson School of Law.
Representative Oshiro is an associate attorney with Alston, Hunt, Floyd, & Ing. He also serves a the Vice-Chair for the Aiea Community Association and a Director for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, as well as a member of the Young Democrats of Hawaii and the Young Okinawans of Hawaii.
