Representative Karen Awana has served the 44th House District since 2006. As a fourth generation and lifelong resident of the Honokai Hale, Nanakuli and Lualualei community, she truly understands the key issues affecting the people of the Waianae Coast. Using her prior work experience and diverse background, she serves her community with honesty and integrity. <BR>
Over the years she has seen the deterioration of the community and her focus is toward improving education, streamlining transportation, addressing housing solutions, combating illegal drug use, and supporting economic revitalization. Also of major importance is a disaster preparedness plan for the Waianae Coast, as well as a mauka highway to alleviate traffic and provide access in an emergency.<BR>
Representative Awana believes that communication and collaboration are key to tapping in to the plethora of resources available and bringing together the many service agencies and entities. Engaging with working groups at the local level is fundamental to understanding the true needs of the community and bringing about positive change.
