A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Early College Admission tuition program. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of the law to the contrary, if a student finishes their high school education graduation requirements before grade twelve, including completion of the Standardized Achievement Test, the money that would otherwise be allocated to a public school for the student through the weighted student formula shall instead be allocated as follows:
(1) Fifty per cent to the general fund; and
(2) Fifty per cent to the student in the form of a tuition subsidy to any college within the University of Hawaii system."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2011.
