RELATING TO EDUCATION. Provides educational stability for foster children by requiring decisions made on where a child will be enrolled for school be based on the best interests of the child. Requires that foster children, including those living outside the geographic area of the school district, receive services comparable to those for children living within the school district. Appropriates funds for school transportation services for foster children.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII CENTER ON AGING EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. Appropriates funds to the University of Hawaii center on aging research and education faculty positions and program expenses.

RELATING TO NON-SCHOOL HOUR PROGRAMS. Appropriates TANF funds for non-school hour programs to be expended by the DOE, OYS, and the counties.

RELATING TO JUVENILE COURT RECORDS. Allows limited disclosure of information from family court records on minors under family court jurisdiction pursuant to section 571(1); requires family court to notify public or private school officials registered with court of adjudication of minors for offenses for which court records become public; requires family court to notify public or private school officials of petitions filed with the court for minors accused of offenses that would be serious crimes under penal code; requires that disclosed information remain confidential.

RELATING TO THE STATE OF HAWAII SECTION 529 COLLEGE SAVINGS PROGRAM. To provide taxpayers a state tax deduction for contributions to Hawaii’s college savings program.

When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.
· By Email: Testimony may be emailed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Legislature's Public Access Room at testimony@capitol.hawaii.gov. Please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing. Email sent to individual offices or any other Senate office will not be accepted.
