A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 302A-641, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

"[[]§302A-641[]] Meal count assistants, conversion to cashier I position; adult supervisors[,] and classroom cleaners; minimum wage. (a) Positions for meal count assistants formerly covered under this section shall be converted to cashier I positions on the effective date of this Act, with the appropriate changes in salary.

(b) Except as provided in section 387-9, the wages of [meal count assistants,] adult supervisors[,] and classroom cleaners of the department shall be no less than the current state minimum wage as required in section 387-2."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for salary adjustments in converting meal count assistant positions to cashier I positions.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
