A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO EMPLOYER'S SHARE OF FRINGE BENEFITS COSTS INCURRED ON SALARIES CHARGED TO SPECIAL AND REVOLVING FUNDS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 36, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§36-__ Payment of employer's share of fringe benefits costs incurred on salaries charged to University of Hawaii special and revolving funds. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the employer's share of fringe benefits costs incurred on all salaries charged to special or revolving funds of the University of Hawaii shall not be paid with the revenues of the respective special or revolving fund. The fringe benefit costs of these employees shall be combined with the employer's share of fringe benefit costs incurred on all general funded salaries of University of Hawaii employees and paid by the director of finance pursuant to legislative appropriations out of the general revenues of the State for this purpose."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006 and the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the purpose of this Act.

The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of budget and finance.

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
