Report Title: Crime reduction; prevention and treatment of ice abuse; task force measures ($)
Description: Makes appropriations to the Department of Health for crystal methamphetamine (ice) treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, education, environmental damage assessment, and program monitoring. Makes appropriations to the Judiciary to expand services provided by the drug courts and for treatment of first-time, nonviolent drug offenders. Makes appropriations to Department of Public Safety to expand canine drug interdiction efforts. Makes appropriations to county governments for grassroots community anti-drug campaigns and substance abuse prevention programs. Makes appropriations for community adolescent drug prevention programs and other community anti-drug efforts aimed at preventing ice use on the island of Hawaii. Makes appropriations to Department of Public Safety to coordinate community-based drug abatement efforts to fight the ice epidemic. Makes appropriation to expand Weed and Seed Program. Establishes a substance abuse treatment monitoring program requiring state agencies to collect data and assess program effectiveness. Establishes a multi-agency task force to respond to the effects of ice on children and makes appropriation for expenses. Makes an appropriation to the KASHBOX program. (HB2004 CD1)
