HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

CONGRATULATING THE MILILANI HIGH SCHOOL BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM and the Mililani High School Girls VARSITY Soccer Team for THEIR Outstanding Athletic Performance

 

 

WHEREAS,the Mililani High School Boys Soccer Team participated in the Meadow Gold Boys Soccer State Championship as the number one seed and were successful in winning their third consecutive state championship, which was only the second-ever three-peat in Hawaii high school history; and

WHEREAS, the Mililani High School Girls Team, who were state champions last year and were successful in winning the Oahu Interscholastic Association championship by a score of 3-2, went on to a second place finish in the 2003 State Championship; and

WHEREAS, members of both teams demonstrated outstanding solidarity and have learned the value of teamwork in reaching a goal, reflecting the exceptional dedication, perseverance, fellowship, good sportsmanship, superb athletic ability, and the spirit of keen competitiveness of both teams; and

WHEREAS, the members of the boys soccer team include: freshmen Dustin Shimatsu, Kyle Perkins, Justin Iha, Evan Kau, and Michael Smith; sophomores Nick Aoki, Cheyne Eugenio, Chris Burt, Justin Ching, Tory Yamanaka, and Todd Sorbin; juniors Gerard Buhl, Jay Abrigo, Ehren Ching, Patrick Egloria, Justin Kim, Brent Murakami, Darren Smith, Braden Tada, and Paul Tojo; and seniors Tom Amous, Nathan Amous, Chris Castell, Kevin Higaki, Brett Kagawa, Cameron Luiz, Justin Okawa, Ceferin Oliva, and Whitney Shimatsu; Head Coach Jeff Yamamoto, Assistant Coaches Norman Beter, Steve McGehee, Tony Hart, Thomas Brown, Blane Ogawa, and Bronson Yee; Managers Haley Yamamoto, Ashley Hara, Dayna Masuda, Linsey Gwin, Amy Oshita and Ballboy Rory Yamamoto; and

WHEREAS, the girls soccer team members are: Rachel Ling, Mallory Iha, Crystal Ah Sam, Erin Nakasone, Sarah Yoro, Nicky Harris, Marisa Belaski-Farias, Ashley Nakamoto, Alysen Ono, Veronica DeGuzman, Erin Tagami, Kristen Nichols, Kristie Sagara, Candace Ching, Shaunna Miyashiro, Raimee Ortega, Alexis Choi, Jennifer Loo, Danielle Kusaka, Eryn Kishimoto and Liane Tom; Head Coach James Uson and Assistant Coach John Uson; Managers Chun Mei Nickles and Clarynne Ishikawa and Trainer Troy Furutani; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, that this body hereby congratulates the superb athletic performance of the Mililani High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team and the Mililani High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team, and extends to all of them its special aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
