RELATING TO A TAX CREDIT TO PROMOTE THE PURCHASE OF PRIVATE LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE.

A bill to provide a tax credit for the purchase of Long Term Care Insurance.

RELATING TO THE WHISTLEBLOWERS' PROTECTION ACT.

Increases the penalty for violations of the Whistleblowers' Protection Act by establishing a minimum fine of $500 and increasing the maximum fine to $10,000 per violation. Extends the statute of limitations for bringing a complaint of retaliation under the Act to 2 years.

Establishes a department of aging and long-term care.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII LONG-TERM CARE FINANCING ACT.

Enacts the Hawaii long-term care financing Act; creates a mandatory assessment system to collect premiums from employee paychecks; establishes an initial premium amount of $10 per month and an initial benefit payment of $70 per day for 365 days; creates the Hawaii long-term care benefits fund to hold the premiums and to pay benefits.

RELATING TO CONVEYANCE TAX.

Changes the percentage of the conveyance tax designated to the natural area reserve fund from 25% to 12 1/2% and designates 12 1/2% of the tax to homeless assistance programs under part IV of chapter 201G. Also establishes a homeless assistance trust fund.
