SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE TASK FORCE TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES.

 

WHEREAS, the legislature passed Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 90, HD1 (SCR 90), in the 2001 Regular Session, to improve the efficiency of law enforcement and public safety agencies; and

WHEREAS, SCR 90 established a task force of law enforcement and public safety officials to examine specified public safety issues and to report to the Legislature on findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation, by November 1, 2001; and

WHEREAS, the task force is continuing its work in response to SCR 90, but needs more time to complete its report particularly in light of the events of September 11, 2001; and

WHEREAS, the work of the task force is important to the safety and welfare of the public; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-First Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2002, the House of Representatives concurring, that the reporting date to the Legislature of the task force is extended for one year from November 1, 2001, to November 2, 2002; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Public Safety, Director of Transportation, Chairperson of the Board of

Land and Natural Resources, Comptroller, Attorney General, the respective police chiefs of the county police departments, and the respective chairs of each county police commission.
