A BILL FOR AN ACT
making an appropriation for the office of veteran services.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that there are many veterans in Hawaii who are entitled to services but do not know it. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funding that would enable the office of veteran's services to contract for enhanced outreach counseling services for veterans on the islands of Maui and Hawaii.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, to contract to provide outreach counseling to veterans by providing them with information on veteran's services.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of defense for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
