A BILL FOR AN ACT
Making an appropriation to provide in-service training to department of education teachers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Without adequate in-service training for teachers, it is very difficult for teachers to achieve the consistent and exemplary levels of on-going professional development that enable them to teach to the best of their ability.
The purpose of this Act is to provide department of education teachers with adequate in-service training to prepare them for the school year; provided that the release of funds for in-service training is in agreement with the collective bargaining agreement between department of education management and the exclusive bargaining representatives.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
