A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to public employee benefits.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 88E-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending the definition of "employee" to read as follows:

""Employee" means a person who is eligible to participate in the employees' retirement system of the State of Hawaii as defined in section 88-21[.] and any retirant of the employees' retirement system who maintains retired status while either continuing or restarting employment with the State or a county."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
