A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MAUI ADULT DAY CARE CENTER.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the Maui Adult Day Care Center is a community-based long-term care service operated under the department of human services. The Center provides a necessary service for adults in Maui who need supervision, support, and care during the day while family members are working. The target population is predominantly Medicaid recipients.

The purpose of this Act is to make an appropriation to the Maui Adult Day Care Center.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $250,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the Maui Adult Day Care Center, to be used to provide activities and activity materials, administrative expenses, fee waivers, and operating expenses.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of human services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
