A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to child protection.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 587-88, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (e) to read as follows:

"(e) As used in this section, "serious abuse" [means] includes but is not limited to reabuse, hospitalization, or death arising from an abuse. If a child who has been subjected to prior abuse is missing, then it shall be presumed that child has suffered serious abuse."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
