A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO GOVERNMENT MOTOR VEHICLES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1.
Section 105-11, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows: "[[]§105-11[]] State motor pool revolving fund. (a) There shall be in the state treasury, a state motor pool revolving fund for acquisition, operation, repair, maintenance, storage, and disposal of state-owned vehicles assigned to the motor pool.
(b) Beginning July 1, 2002, all acquisitions shall meet fuel efficiency standards as determined by the comptroller; provided that preference in acquisitions shall be given to vehicles using nonpetroleum based fuels or a combination of petroleum and nonpetroleum based fuels.
[(b)] (c) All proceeds collected from motor pool rentals shall be deposited in the state motor pool revolving fund and be expended by the comptroller to carry out the purposes of this section."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
