cONGRATULATING jILL HIROTA AS THE HAWAII STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND LEAH AIWOHI, LANI CHANG, AILEEN DANG, HELEN KOBAYASHI, JANET SATO, AND LINDA UEHARA AS THE HAWAII STATE DISTRICT TEACHERS OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, professional educators, as motivators, role models, and guardians of Hawaii's youth, undertake great responsibility and commitment in cultivating, nurturing and developing our State's most precious asset, Hawaii's youth; and
WHEREAS, since 1989, JILL HIROTA has been an educator at Waialua Elementary School and is one of the first five public school teachers to become a National Board Certified Teacher, and has been named the Hawaii State Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, LEAH AIWOHI is the Kauai District Teacher of the Year, and has been teaching for eleven years, most recently at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School; and
WHEREAS, LANI CHANG, the Windward District Teacher of the Year, is an educator at Waiahole Elementary; and
WHEREAS, at King David Kalakaua Middle School, Aileen Dang is given the distinction of the Honolulu District Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, teaching Social Studies/Anthropology at Waiakea High School, the Hawaii District Teacher of the Year is HELEN OBAYASHI; and
WHEREAS, at Henry Perrine Baldwin High School, on Maui, District Teacher of the Year is JANET SATO; and
WHEREAS, at one of the new and upcoming schools on Oahu, Kapolei Middle School, the Leeward District Teacher of the Year is LINDA UEHARA; and
WHEREAS, JILL HIROTA, LEAH AIWOHI, LANI CHANG, AILEEN DANG, HELEN KOBAYASHI, JANET SATO, and LINDA UEHARA continue to evolve into better educators for students who depend on teachers to prepare them for the numerous challenges of tomorrow; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2002, that this body hereby recognizes and congratulates JILL HIROTA, LEAH AIWOHI, LANI CHANG, AILEEN DANG, HELEN KOBAYASHI, JANET SATO, and LINDA UEHARA for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to public school education in the State of Hawaii and extends to all of them its sincere mahalo for a job well done.
