A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for various capital improvements in the second representative district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2002-2003.

1. To be expended by the county of Hawaii.

A. Extension of the existing Akolea/Wailuku diversion channel to control flooding, including plans, preparation of an environmental impact statement, and construction.

Plans and Environmental impact statement $  500,000

Construction 6,100,000

Total Funding $6,600,000

B. Kupulau diversion, to divert excess water into proposed diversion channel to exit into the existing Waiakea Uka channel, flowing eventually into the Wailoa project, including feasibility study, plans and specifications, land acquisition, and construction.

Feasibility study $1,000,000

Plans and specifications 300,000

Land acquisition 600,000

Construction 10,100,000

Total Funding $12,000,000

3. To be expended by the department of business, economic development, and tourism.

University Park, Phase III, for infrastructure and other improvements on the mauka campus to accommodate development of academic and research facilities, including plans, design, and construction.

Plans $ 1,000

Design 249,000

Construction 2,250,000

Total Funding $2,500,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
