A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO COMPENSATION OF CRIME VICTIMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 351-62, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (b) to read as follows:

"(b) No compensation shall be awarded under this chapter in an amount in excess of $10,000[.], except in a case involving compensable medical expenses in excess of $10,000. In a case involving compensable medical expenses in excess of $10,000, no medical expenses compensation may be awarded in excess of $20,000. Section 351-63 shall apply to medical expenses compensation."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
