A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to school supplies.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§302-     School supplies. The department shall provide supplies required to perform school work to any elementary school student at no cost to the student or the student's family, provided that the department may require a student to purchase supplies if those provided by the department have been lost, damaged, or destroyed by the student."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
