RESOLUTION
requesting the hawaii community development authority to stimulate economic development by contracting with a nonprofit organization for the purpose of organizing a multicultural village at kakaako.
WHEREAS, Kakaako has the potential to develop economically into a place where Hawaii residents, businesses, and tourists can all benefit; and
WHEREAS, in order to create a perfect balance, there needs to be oversight and organization in its economic development; and
WHEREAS, the development of a multicultural village at Kakaako is an ideal project that embodies the desires of the community as well as an appropriate educational aspect; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-First Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2001, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Hawaii Community Development Authority is requested to stimulate economic development by contracting with a private nonprofit entity to provide guidance in ensuring that the development of Kakaako reflects the many cultures of Hawaii, thus creating a Kakaako multicultural village, and to provide guidance in ensuring the development of an ocean park at Kakaako and the movement of Bishop Museum to Kakaako; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified a copy of this
Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Hawaii Community Development Authority.
