A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE 17TH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2001-2002.
1. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:
A. Aiea Elementary, Honolulu
1. Renovate the existing shower in boy's restroom. $ 50,000
2. Schoolwide public announcement system; design, planning, and equipment. 15,000
3. Air conditioning system for twenty-four classrooms with an electrical upgrade; design, construction, and equipment. 700,000
Total funding $ 765,000
B. Aiea High School, Honolulu
1. Electronics lab upgrade; renovation - power upgrade, additional outlets, workbenches, AC upgrade, and removal of equipment. $ 100,000
2. Campus electrical upgrade; design, construction, and equipment for power infrastructure upgrades campus wide. 2,000,000
3. Expansion and renovation of dark room. 125,000
Total funding $2,225,000
C. Aiea Intermediate School, Honolulu
1. Total electrical upgrade for the school to address limited power supply. $ 600,000
2. Upgrade phone system; add additional phone lines. 40,000
3. Construct a covered walkway to alleviate overcrowding in shaded areas of school; design, planning, and construction. 20,000
4. Construct a cattle gate to prevent trespassing, vandalism, or littering from outside sources. 5,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
