SB 2480, SD1  RELATING TO ANNULMENT, DIVORCE, AND SEPARATION.                JHA
SSCR 2469     Exempts impoverished  persons  from  the  legal notice requirement
              when a divorce, annulment, or separation is filed.

HSCR 872-00   Removes the provisions regarding the annual update of the actual
SSCR 2423     amount of an agreement or lien recorded in the bureau of
SSCR 2232     conveyances.  Clarifies  that  there  are  two  distinct liens for
              which bureau of conveyances  recording requirements apply and that
              the department may initiate probate proceedings for both liens.
SB 2982, SD1  RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT.                                     JHA
SSCR 2634     Amends the law relating to child support liens to clarify that the
              lien arising from a child support order or judgment takes priority
              over subsequent  liens  only  when  the  child  support debtor was
              actually delinquent in payment at the time of the subsequent lien.
SB 2758, SD1  RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT.                     JHA,FIN
SSCR 2470     Provides numerous revisions to  comply  with the mandates of Title
              IV-D of the Social Security  Act.   Compliance with these mandates
              are  required  for   continued   funding   of  the  Child  Support
              Enforcement Agency.
SB 2154, SD1  RELATING TO PROTECTIVE ORDERS.                                 JHA
SSCR 2443     Includes "dating  relationship"  within  domestic abuse protective
              orders.   Provides  for  extended  protective  orders  for 10-year
              period.    Makes  penalties  for  violation  of  protective orders
              consistent  with  those  for  violation  of  temporary restraining
              orders.   Requires  full  faith  and  credit  be  given to foreign
              protective orders.
SB 3133, SD1  RELATING TO CRIME.                                             JHA
SSCR 2477     Expands prohibition  of  prostitution  in  Waikiki  to other areas
              designated by the council of the appropriate county.

SB 2352, SD2  RELATING TO COMPUTER OFFENSES.                                 JHA
SSCR 2758     Repeals existing law and expands computer crimes.  Provides for
SSCR 2318     civil actions based on the computer crimes.

SB 2108, SD2  RELATING TO THE PUBLIC LAND TRUST.                     JHA,WLU,FIN
SSCR 2693     Requires the auditor to coordinate the resolution of public land
SSCR 2017     trust issues.  Requires the auditor to submit a progress report to
              the legislature prior  to  the  2001  regular  session and a final
              report prior to December 31, 2001.
SB 2151, SD1  RELATING TO FIREARMS.                                          JHA
SSCR 2673     Provides for  re-registration  of  firearms  by  mail;  requires a
              firearm owner to  submit  an  affidavit  attesting  to the owner's
              mental health condition; requires  county  police to issue firearm
              owner  identification   cards  upon  registration/re-registration;
              requires firearm owner  identification  card  to be presented when
              purchasing ammunition.

AGENDA:

The State of Hawaii recently awarded  a  contract  to GTE Hawaiian Tel which has
teamed up with Cisco Systems, Inc.,  to  develop and install the Next Generation
Network (NGN), a  telecommunication  system  that  will provide state government
with greater connectivity and increase operational efficiency.

The House through HB 1900,  HD1  (The Executive Supplemental Budget), authorized
an additional $3.0 million dollars to complete the NGN project.

The Department  of  Accounting  and  General  Services,  ICSD  division  and GTE
Hawaiian Tel  will  further  update  the  Committee  on  the  current status and
scheduled phase in of the project.    In  addition, they will provide in detail,
the goals and  scope  of  the  NGN  project  which  is  designed  to upgrade the
telecommunication infrastructure  to  support  current  and future technological
demands of state agencies.

SSCR 2589     Provides  GET  exemption  for   treated  wastewater  sold  to  the
              counties.

SSCR 2555     Repeals sunset date for energy conversion tax credits.
SB 2971       RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTS.              EEP, FIN
PROPOSED      Amends the environmental impact statement law by: amending the
HD1           definition of "environmental  impact  statement" or "statement" to
              include effects on  the  cultural  practices  of the community and
              State; amending the definition  of "significant effect" to include
              adverse effects on cultural  practices;  and provides for an early
              review  of  environmental  assessments  and  environmental  impact
              statements by the Office of Environmental Quality Control.
SB 2879, SD2  RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE TIRES.                          EEP, FIN
SSCR 2713     Establishes a program to regulate disposal of motor vehicle tires.
              Imposes $1 surcharge on all  imported  tires which may be used for
              tire  management,  collection,   disposal,  recycling,  marketing,
              reuse, and  illegal  dumping  prevention  programs.   Requires all
              entities  accepting  used  tires  to  maintain  records  regarding
              disposition of the tires.
SB 2990, SD2  RELATING TO THE RECYCLING OF BATTERIES.                   EEP, FIN
SSCR 2712     Imposes a surcharge on purchase  price of new battery, waivable by
              presenting for disposal an  old  battery  for  the new battery, to
              encourage proper disposal of lead batteries.
SB 2880, SD2  RELATING TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE REVOLVING           EEP,FIN
SSCR 2767     FUND.
              Expands use of environmental response revolving fund.
