                     HOUSE  CONCURRENT
                        RESOLUTION

  EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR THE MILLENNIUM
    PROJECT.



 1        WHEREAS, the goal of the "Millennium Project" is to
 2   encourage each person on Earth to join with the people of
 3   Hawaii in dedicating the third millennium as the "Millennium of
 4   Peace"; and
 5   
 6        WHEREAS, the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural population of
 7   Hawaii sets an encouraging example for international
 8   understanding as all nations and peoples strive to live
 9   together in peace and harmony; and 
10   
11        WHEREAS, the spirit of Aloha is the gift of the Hawaiian
12   people to the world and the profound meaning it has for all of
13   the children on Earth with its message of love; and
14   
15        WHEREAS the President of the United States has admonished
16   the citizens and communities of America to develop and
17   implement millennium projects and celebrations; and
18   
19        WHEREAS, the United Nations has dedicated the year 2000 as
20   the Year of World Peace; now, therefore,
21   
22        BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the
23   Twentieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session
24   of 1999, the Senate concurring, that the Legislature commends
25   the goals of the Millennium Project and joins in and encourages
26   all citizens and governments of the Earth to join with the
27   people of Hawaii in the spirit of Aloha to dedicate the
28   celebrations of the third millennium to peace and understanding
29   as "The Millennium of Peace" for all of Earth's children; and
30   
31        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this
32   Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the President of the
33   United States, the President of the United States Senate, the
34   Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the

 1   members of Hawaii's congressional delegation, the Governor of
 2   the State of Hawaii, and the United States Ambassador to the
 3   United Nations.
