                     HOUSE  CONCURRENT
                        RESOLUTION

  REQUESTING THAT THE GOVERNOR PROCLAIM AUGUST 15 TO AUGUST 21,
    1999, AS OFFICIAL YO-YO WORLD COMPETITION WEEK IN THE
    STATE OF HAWAII.



 1        WHEREAS, the 1999 Bandai World Yo-Yo Competition will be
 2   held at the Hawaii Convention Center from August 20 through
 3   August 22, 1999; and
 4   
 5        WHEREAS, the 1999 Bandai World Yo-Yo Competition will
 6   focus national and international attention on the State of
 7   Hawaii and the sport of yo-yo play; and
 8   
 9        WHEREAS, the 1999 Bandai World Yo-Yo Competition will
10   attract the top yo-yo players from around the world; and 
11   
12        WHEREAS, the 1999 Bandai World Yo-Yo Competition is
13   expected to attract 5,000 visitors from around the world to
14   Hawaii; now, therefore,
15   
16        BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the
17   Twentieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session
18   of 1999, the Senate concurring, that August 15 to August 21,
19   1999, is hereby recognized as Yo-Yo World Competition Week in
20   Hawaii; and
21   
22        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Governor is requested to
23   issue a proclamation officially declaring August 15 to
24   August 21, 1999, as Yo-Yo World Competition Week in Hawaii; and
25   
26        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii Tourism Authority
27   is urged to assist the coordinators of the 1999 Bandai World
28   Yo-Yo Competition to facilitate the success of the event; and
29   
30        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this
31   Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and the
32   Executive Director of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
