Part I. The purpose of this informational briefing
is to gather information relating to the potential impacts on Hawaii businesses
and the local film industry, arising from the anticipated reduction and
possible elimination of most of the Film Industry Branch, the Community
Economic Development (CBED) and Enterprise Zone/Partnership programs. The
reduction of staffing and consequent potential elimination of the Film Industry
Branch and CBED/Enterprise Zone programs would occur as a result of Governor
Linda Lingle’s announced intention to lay off staff in these programs.
Part II. The purpose of this informational briefing is to gather
information regarding the Department of Business, Economic Development and
Tourism’s role in the decision to lay off branch/program staff, and the
department’s plans regarding functions carried out by branch/program staff.
Persons wishing to testify should submit testimony in one of the following ways by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing:

Please note: If you submit your written testimony after 4:30 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally. A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing.
