This joint informational briefing will outline hospital readiness for influenza pandemics, natural and technological disasters and acts of terrorism. Specific information on the following will be addressed:
1) Current capabilities and development initiatives in the areas of portable (mobile) hospital systems,
supply and equipment caches, isolation room upgrades and response teams.
2) Recent experiences with the Kiholo Bay earthquake, the subsequent island-wide blackout on Oahu,
tsunami events, and related major exercises and drills.
3) Gaps in capabilities including staff and hospital bed shortages, federal funding and planned developments for the immediate future.
