A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO HIGHWAY SAFETY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 286-209, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:
"(a) Motor carrier vehicles,
including but not limited to trucks, truck-tractors, semitrailers, trailers, or
pole trailers having a gross vehicle weight rating of more than [10,000]
ten thousand pounds, and motor carrier vehicles having a gross vehicle
weight rating of [10,000] ten thousand pounds or less which
transport passengers in the furtherance of a commercial enterprise, including
car rental transport vehicles shall be inspected and certified [once every
twelve months during the month in which the vehicle's certificate of motor
vehicle registration is issued.] annually."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2008.
