S.B. 2421 RELATING TO TOURISM TIA,WAM
Increases membership of the HTA board; clarifies that HTA is a policy-making board; requires legislative notice for HTA contracts over $25,000; requires periodic audit of all contracts over an amount to be specified.
S.B. 2459 RELATING TO THE CONVENTION CENTER AUTHORITY TIA,WAM
States that the convention center authority act "is repealed" rather than "shall automatically expire", on 6/30/00. Deletes obsolete internal cross-references in the Hawaii Revised Statutes to the convention center capital and operations special fund established under repealed section 206X-10.5, HRS.
S.B. 2556 RELATING TO HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY TIA,WAM
Extends additional flexibility to authority in hiring an executive director; exempts executive director from chapter 88, retirement benefits.
S.B. 2350 RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX TIA,WAM
Caps TAT revenues deposited to tourism special fund at an unspecified annual amount; diverts excess to state parks special fund.
S.B. 2744 RELATING TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE TRANSIENT TIA,WAM
ACCOMMODATIONS TAX
To reallocate a percentage of the Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) from the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) to the general fund.
S.B. 2875 RELATING TO TOURISM TIA,WAM
Requires amounts of Hawaii Tourism Authority’s tourism product enrichment and diversification grants be awarded to counties as follows: 14.5% to Kauai, 18.6% to Hawaii, 22.8% to Maui, and 44.1% to Honolulu. Empowers county mayors to determine program administration, project feasibility, and post-event analysis.
S.B. 3056 RELATING TO TAXATION TIA,WAM
Establishes tax credit of unspecified amount for individuals who participate in the HVCB kuhina program to attract conventions and meetings to Hawaii.
DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS
Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 220, State Capitol 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free from the neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
