RELATING TO STANDARDS OF CONDUCT. Prohibits a head of a state or county regulatory agency from being employed by a company that is regulated by the agency head's agency for a period of not less than five years. (ENGLISH, BUEN, TAM, KOKUBUN, KANNO, Chumbley, Hogue, Hanabusa, Nakata, Hemmings, Chun, Ihara, Ige, Matsuura, Taniguchi, Chun Oakland)

RELATING TO RESIDENCY OF POLICE OFFICER APPLICANTS. Allows police office applicants to be nonresidents upon application but requires them to establish residency upon employment. (BUEN, Hanabusa, Tam, Slom, Chumbley, Chun Oakland, Kanno, Ihara, English, Chun)

RELATING TO THE COURTS. Repeals requirement that administrative director of the courts must be a resident of Hawaii for continuous period of three years prior to appointment. (Bunda (BR))

SB 2789

RELATING TO TEMPORARY HEALTH INSURANCE FOR UNEMPLOYED PERSONS. Clarifies Act 6, Third Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2001, regarding reimbursement of payments. Specifically provides that the expenditure of money appropriated shall be for the period beginning after September 11, 2001 and ending on June 30, 2002 or when the money runs out, whichever is sooner. RELATING TO PICKETING. Repeals law prohibiting the picketing of a residence. (Kokubun (BR))

Persons wishing to testify should submit 40 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 231, State Capitol 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
