The House Committee on Finance will continue the briefing held on March 8, 2002. The original briefing was cut short during the testimony of the Department of Public Safety. This briefing will continue from that point. The State currently faces a shortfall of over $300 million over the current fiscal biennium. In addition to budget cuts, attrition has been put forward as a means to reduce expenditures without eliminating jobs. The House Finance Committee wishes to inquire why attrition has not been used by the Administration as a tool to address budget shortfalls. In order to obtain more information, the following departments have been requested to brief the Committee: |
