SB 2012

RELATING TO REHIRING RETIRED TEACHERS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Allows the DOE to rehire teachers who have been retired for at least one year.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Prohibits the DOE from knowingly requiring or allowing a teacher to instruct students in content areas that the teacher has no demonstrable knowledge or demonstrated competence, or both, as determined by the Hawaii teacher standards board.

SB 2660

RELATING TO TEACHER LICENSURE.

Requires the department of education to provide information to an unlicensed individual on various alternative certification and licensure programs; amends the licensing and credentialing standards for BOE to consider relating to current data on the disparity in educational outcomes for students taught by unlicensed professionals.
