RELATING TO minors.

Prohibits possession of any amount of tobacco by a minor. Requires the court to revoke the minor's driving privileges for certain periods for a violation. (Chun Oakland)

SB 1341

RELATING TO the united states selective service system.

Requires an applicant subject to the Military Selective Service Act to be in compliance prior to obtaining or renewing a motor vehicle driver's license or instruction permit or state ID. Requires the county examiner of drivers and attorney general to forward applicant's information to the Selective Service System. (Tam)

RELATING TO THE STATEWIDE TRAFFIC CODE.

Specifies that the fine for driving a moped without a driver's license is a maximum $1,000 fine and 30 days in prison, or both. (Bunda)

RELATING TO DEFACING SERIAL NUMBERS, ETC., OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

Makes a class C felony and intentional defacing of serial number or identification of a vehicle with intent to mislead authorities in determining true identity of vehicle; makes it a class B felony to re-identify a vehicle's serial number to mislead authorities into determining true identity of vehicle. SB 1608

RELATING TO TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT.

Provides for specific regulation of drivers who obstruct traffic in intersections caused by gridlock. (Bunda)

relating to traffic offenses.

Replaces the term "accident" with the term "collision" in part II of chapter 291C; deletes requirement in section 291C-13 that motor vehicle crash result only in damage to vehicle or property. (Bunda)

SB 1617

RELATING to Peace OFFICERS' ANIMALS.

Creates the offenses of endangering a peace officer's horse or dog in the first and second degree as a class C felony and misdemeanor, respectively. Amends the law relating to obstructing government operations to include a peace officer's horse and dog. Requires the payment of restitution. (Bunda)

RELATING TO TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS.

Encourages the use of hands free operation of cellular phones while driving a vehicle; prohibits hand-held cellular phone use while driving a vehicle; requires cellular phones to come with instructions on safe use while driving and prohibitions on such use. (Tam)
