PART III.  PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP

 

     [§584A-301]  Establishment of parent-child relationship.  A parent-child relationship is established between an individual and a child if:

     (1)  The individual gives birth to the child, except as otherwise provided in part IX;

     (2)  There is a presumption under section 584A-303 of the individual's parentage of the child, unless the presumption is overcome in a judicial proceeding or a valid denial of parentage is made under part VI;

     (3)  The individual is adjudicated as a parent of the child under part V;

     (4)  The individual adopts the child;

     (5)  The individual acknowledges parentage of the child under part IV, unless the acknowledgment is rescinded under section 584A-403(f) or successfully challenged under part IV or V;

     (6)  The individual's parentage of the child is established under part VIII; or

     (7)  The individual's parentage of the child is established under part IX. [L 2025, c 298, pt of §2]
