[§142-51] Inspection before slaughter. No person shall allow livestock to enter a livestock harvesting establishment that slaughters or processes livestock meat and meat products unless the establishment's management has conducted a prior examination and inspection to verify the brand on animals match the ownership of the consignee, collects a copy of and confirms the brand with the ownership of the livestock ownership and movement certificate pursuant to section 142-49. The establishment's management may seek assistance from the department of agriculture [and biosecurity] or a law enforcement officer if ownership determination via brand inspection is in question, or violation or theft is suspected. Livestock ownership and movement certificates that correlate with all livestock harvested at the plant shall be submitted by the establishment's management to the department of agriculture [and biosecurity] weekly.
