Status

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES OF THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU.

Appropriates moneys as a grant-in-aid to the Emergency Services Department of the City and County of Honolulu.  Declares that the appropriation exceeds the state general fund expenditure ceiling for 2024-2025.

Status

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO IMPLEMENT QUALITY IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE HAWAII STATE HOSPITAL.

Makes an emergency appropriation to provide funds for the Department of Health to implement quality improvement recommendations at the Hawaii State Hospital.  Declares that the general fund expenditure is exceeded.

Status

RELATING TO FUNDING FOR THE TOBACCO ENFORCEMENT SPECIAL FUND.

Amends the amount of funding for the Tobacco Enforcement Special Fund administered by the Department of the Attorney General by amending the amount of funds that the Tobacco Enforcement Special Fund can carry over at the end of the fiscal year; increasing the cigarette tax stamp fee and concurrently increasing the percentage of the cigarette tax stamp fee deposited to the Tobacco Enforcement Special Fund; and amending the amount of funds to be deposited to the credit of the Tobacco Enforcement Special Fund from tobacco settlement moneys.  Effective 7/1/2024.

Status

RELATING TO THE GENERAL EXCISE TAX.

Beginning 1/1/2025, exempts medical services provided by physicians and advanced practice registered nurses acting in the capacity of a primary care provider from the general excise tax.

RELATING TO HOSPITALS.

Directs the Department of Health to include in its rules addressing hospital licensure a requirement that each hospital holding a license from the Department of Health have security personnel in certain locations at all times.

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.
