A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-third REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $5,850,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-third representative district, as follows:

1.   ‘Aiea high school

     Construction for upgrading of gym bleachers.

     Construction                   $750,000

          Total funding                       $750,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   ‘Aiea intermediate school

     Construction for the renovation of the A3 science classroom.

     Construction                   $500,000

          Total funding                       $500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   ‘Aiea intermediate school

     Design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for an outdoor gathering area, including stage and seating and necessary infrastructure, and ground and site improvements.

     Design                       $1,450,000

     Construction                 $1,500,000

     Equipment                       $50,000

          Total funding                     $3,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Gustav H. Webling elementary school

     Construction for the reroofing of building C.

     Construction                   $400,000

          Total funding                       $400,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   Gustav H. Webling elementary school

     Construction for the resurfacing of the playcourt.

     Construction                   $200,000

          Total funding                       $200,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

6.   Gustav H. Webling elementary school

     Design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for campus-wide covered walkways, other related improvements, and ground and site improvements.

     Design                         $100,000

     Construction                   $800,000

     Equipment                      $100,000

          Total funding                     $1,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
